For the luvvies amongst us (including me in a big way), I’ve got some good news!
This year’s season of shows at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, which run from 23 April to 5 October, have just been announced.
The rundown (booking starts on Monday, Feb 11):
King Lear
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The Merry Wives of Windsor
The Front Line
Timons of Athens
Liberty
NB: for those not in the know, or tourists visiting London, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is a reconstruction of the original wooden theatre, from 1599, where Shakespeare’s works were put on. The plays there are always well-done performances with beautiful costumes and excellent acting and directing.
This is ‘theatre in the round’ so you could be sitting on any side of the stage. Well worth visiting if you’re a major theatre fan (in general) , Shakespeare fan or just want to experience the ambience of the venue.
Visiting the Globe on a summer’s eve is a lovely experience as you can sip a glass of wine at the intermission and gaze tranquilly out along the Thames, watching all the twinkling lights from passing boats or from other buildings.
