Natural home cleaning tip: cleaning & disinfecting the bathroom with hydrogen peroxide
By: Alexa Williamson
I’d always used bleach * (such as Chlorax or Domestos) to clean the bathroom as it eradicates germs very well. However, having recently learned that it contains mercury, which can be let off in its vapour, I threw it straight out.
I now use hydrogen peroxide to clean, sterilise and remove stains in the same way that chlorine bleach does. Or, if you want something more natural to also disinfect and clean – particularly to remove mineral/limescale build up in your toilet and sink, then it’s also worth trying vinegar (I’ve only used apple cider so far).
By using both of these, not only do you get your bathroom clean and sanitised, you also save your family or cleaner from being exposed to harmful chemicals.
* I admit, I should have also known how bad it is for the environment but hadn’t thought about this till learning about the mercury issue.
