Shopping tip: a good way to order stuff from the US when they won’t ship to the UK
By: Alexa Williamson
Recently when wanting to order something from an online US shopping site that won’t deliver to the UK, I looked around to find a way around this and came across, MyMailBoxUSA.com (on eBay.com).
This is a service that will accept orders for people who live in the UK and want to order from a US company/eBay seller that won’t ship to the UK. I’ve yet to have them post me an item, but so far, the registration service has been excellent and the man who runs it promptly sent me all the details I need to have these sent to me. I think, overall, it’ll be worth it as their prices, when converted to UK pounds, are very reasonable.
The rundown – in a nutshell*:
- $1.99, one-off, registration fee charged
- package handling charges – $6.99 for packages under 1.8kg (4lbs), $8.99 for packages over 1.8kg (4lbs), $1.99 fee for any other packages added to your initial outgoing package
- US normal mail postal charges added to handling fee
- methods of payment accepted: Paypal, international money orders, bank/wire transfer
- they can also buy stuff from eBay/US online shopping sites for you, but charge a commission
- they can ‘gift wrap’ stuff for you, use themed stamps when posting, and take special posting requests
- they have excellent eBay feedback

[...] macys.com – another great site for home furnishing shopping and more. Sadly, it’s a US site and they don’t ship to the UK. However the quality and variety is excellent and you can either have your items shipped to someone you know in the UK or use the service I have used and recommended (which has reasonable shipping services) – Mymailbox.com. I personally use http://www.shipito.com. They are efficient and their rates are excellent!
