Performing arts review: Afrika! Afrika!
Venue: 02 Centre, Greenwich, London
Rating: *****1/2 (out of 5)
Love performing arts, acrobatics and/or the wonderful colours, sounds and imagery of Africa? Then this riveting show, which myself and other seasoned performance goers have seen and think more highly of than Cirque du Soleil, is one worth watching. Taking place in a large tent outside the 02 Centre, it includes tumbling, acrobatics, rings, contortionists, gymnastics and more – while weaving in the various and beautiful images of Africa via a slideshow and the accompaniement of native music.
Despite being two hours long, the engaging performers and the half-hour intermission, give the show a perfect pace and by the end of the night, you feel liked you’ve floated along on a raft of unique entertainment and are ready to ‘flow’ home.
With each act seeming more breathtaking than the next, this is a highly recommended show for all ages.
