Film review: Priceless (Hors de Prix)
Rating: **** (out of 5)

For those looking for a great romantic comedy – and a fabulous movie in French – then look no further. Not only is Audrey Tautou as gorgeous as always, she is also highly amusing in this role.
Set in a French Riviera hotel, both she as a goldigger named Irene and her co-star Gad Elmaleh, who plays Jean, a bellhop, who later also becomes a goldigger after bedding Irene and getting fired for being caught in a luxurious suite fall in love and the movie that unfolds follows their tryst.
Audrey looks great in whatever she wears and the movie is about them trying to get together but not having any money. Lines are flimsy yet entertaining as each of their romances with their patrons – and their own secretive romance – unfolds. Emaleh’s acting seems a bit deft in comparison to Audrey’s, however he does his best to keep up.
The first piece I’ve seen by Pierre Salvadori and Benoit Graffin but a very tasty introduction to their writing and Salvadori’s direction – I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more.
