Theatre review: The Hurly Burly Show (Duchess Theatre, London, West End)
Review date: July, 2012

Rating: *** (out of 5)
For those who love a dance show with a bit of razzle dazzle, comedy and audience participation then look no further than to this hilarious burlesque troup that keeps coming back to the West End as they are both fun and clever! The demure yet confident Miss Polly Rae, and her Hurly Burly girls, present a wonderful show of dancing, quick moving musical numbers and humour. Also, the costumes are absolutely stunning, consisting of a beautiful glittering and diamante studded attire, parasols, feather plumes, boas and more.
With a musical score that includes songs by Madonna, Prince, Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and more, there is a lot of kitsch dancing and choreography that is directed by William Baker (who has worked with Kylie Minogue on her videos) and Ashley Wallen who is the choreographer for the musical Ghost. Only on until September, if you are in the mood for something light , comic and dynamic then check out The Hurly Burly Show at the Duchess as it is also an interesting mixture of late 20th century pop culture, the hip parts of this century’s pop culture and classic 1940s burlesque glamour.
