The town of Teddington is sort of a hidden gem just outside of London because the main streets (Broad Street and High Street) are set up like a village and you can, if you want, find everything you need there. Plus, there aren’t really any highrise buildings, the huge park, Bushy Park, is a 5-minute walk from the train station, as are the main streets. Plus, Teddington has a river lock, a film studio, parrots living in the trees (from the African Queen, which was partially filmed at the studios), a horse stable, an old town hall and much more. So, when you get off the train, which is a 40-minute ride from Waterloo, everything (including doctors, police and dentists are all within a five-minute walk). Plus, like the old town hall, there are many period buildings still around and even in Bushy Park there are free nature walks and talks, a woodland garden, a river, deer and much more.
With a good amount of money in the area, and the tranquility of the park within Teddington, quite a few charity shops are happily and fortunately doing well.
One of these is Fara, which is a pleasure to pop in to. With a large window, it actually houses a lot of high street labels, which have been worn, yes, but they tend to be in good condition and cost under £10. So for £10 or less you can get H & M, Zara, Monsoon and more. And there are also a good amount of shoes and some nice jewellery. Yes, it may have all been worn but if you are looking for good quality at a reasonable price than it is indeed worth popping in here. The staff are also nice, polite and can hold things for a short time if necessary. But, honestly, probably better just to buy it, at the time if you can or pay and then come back for it.
So if you need something and want to make a donation to charity then take a visit to Fara, planned or not!
